For the first time since the 1970s, both the University of Buffalo and St. Bonaventure University men’s basketball teams are in the NCAA Division 1 Basketball Tournament. The University of Buffalo’s women’s basketball team has also won a spot in the March Madness.
This is a historic moment for both colleges and the City of Buffalo. The question is, where will you be watching the big dance? St. Bonaventure squared off with the UCLA on Tuesday, March 13, in Dayton Ohio, winning 65-58. Now, that would be a six-hour and nine-minute car ride from Olean, New York, to Dayton, Ohio.
Fans of the University at Buffalo Bulls would have to travel even further than St. Bonaventure fans. The UB men’s team is set to face the Arizona Wildcats on Thursday, March 15 at 9:40 p.m., in Boise, Idaho. According to WGRZ Reporter Emily Lampa, getting to the game, whether by plane, train, bus, or car, is going to cost you.
The UB women’s basketball team will face the University of South Florida on Saturday, March 17 at 1:30 p.m. in Tallahassee, Florida.
As for more local teams in the big dance, the Syracuse men’s basketball team faces the Arizona State Sun Devils on Wednesday, March 14 at 9:10 pm, in Dayton Ohio. The Syracuse women also won their way into the tournament; they will play Oklahoma State on Saturday, March 17 at 3:30 p.m. in Mississippi.
Will you be cheering for our friends at St. Bonaventure, or will you be cheering on the UB Bulls? It’s your call. Let March Madness begin.
